Frequently asked questions
What you want to know before you call us
- Is hiring a private detective legal?
- Yes. Recognised detective agencies operate under the law of 18 May 2024 regulating private investigation and are licensed by the Federal Public Service for Home Affairs. We first assess whether your request has a legitimate interest.
- Does Amberes Investigations work throughout the province of Antwerp?
- Yes. Our home base is the Antwerp region. We are active in the city of Antwerp, in Mechelen, the Rupel region and the Kempen, and by extension across the whole of Belgium when the case requires it.
- What does an investigation cost?
- The hourly rate is determined in advance and transparently based on the assignment. Additional costs are discussed in advance, so you always receive a clear and detailed invoice. See the prices page for more explanation.
- Does the final report have evidentiary value in court?
- Yes. The report of a recognised detective is generally well received by most judges and can carry significant weight in civil proceedings, for example in divorce, alimony or an employment dispute.
- How discreet is the investigation conducted?
- Completely discreet. During the investigation, the person being investigated learns nothing, and no one in your environment notices anything either. You communicate directly with the case manager, via the channel of your choice.
- Who do I have contact with during my case?
- Directly with the case manager who also follows up your file personally. This way everything remains confidential and you never have to deal with rotating contact persons or a call centre.
