Since the divorce law of 1 September 2007, one can divorce on the grounds of irreparable breakdown of the marriage. An establishment of adultery can serve as proof of such a breakdown. As a result, the divorce can be pronounced more quickly and the adulterous partner can lose any right to personal maintenance.
